Job Title: Unarmed Security Officer

Location: Iowa City

Pay: $16.50 per hour

Job Type: Part-Time

Schedule:

• Monday – Thursday
• 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Job Description:

We are seeking a professional and dependable Unarmed Security Officer to provide security services at an assigned location. This position focuses on observing and reporting, maintaining a safe and secure environment, and delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced setting.

Primary Purpose and Function:

The Security Officer is responsible for providing security services with a focus on observing and reporting. Duties include monitoring activity, identifying and reporting suspicious behavior, writing detailed reports, maintaining daily activity reports (DARs), enforcing site rules and procedures, and responding to emergency situations requiring security assistance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Execute security services in accordance with Post Orders and company policies
• Conduct walking patrols of assigned areas (interior and exterior)
• Identify and report security threats, hazards, or emergency situations
• Perform site-specific duties such as customer service, access control, and monitoring
• Write clear, detailed, and accurate incident and activity reports
• Communicate with site supervision and management as required
• Enforce all site rules, policies, and procedures
• Respond appropriately to incidents in accordance with company Use of Force policies
• Participate in required training and orientation programs
• Maintain professional appearance, attendance, and conduct standards
• Support additional security or customer service functions as directed

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have excellent customer service skills
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be willing to obtain an Iowa State Guard Card
• Must have a valid Driver’s License
• Must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to document all activities and incidents accurately
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations
• Ability to secure and monitor both interior and exterior premises
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
