We are seeking reliable and flexible security professionals who are available to work on an on-call basis from Wednesday through Sunday, with day, evening, and overnight shifts available. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service and communication skills, demonstrate professionalism and sound judgment, and be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

This position requires officers to stand and walk for extended periods, respond to staffing needs as they arise, and rotate between multiple posts as needed throughout each shift.

Job Brief

We are seeking professional, dependable, and safety-focused Special Police Officers (SPOs) to support security operations within a private school setting in Washington, D.C. As an on-call officer, you will provide coverage for scheduled absences, callouts, special events, and operational needs while helping maintain a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The ideal candidate will be adaptable, responsive, and capable of working independently while maintaining a visible and approachable presence on campus.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.
• Monitor entrances and exits and enforce access control procedures.
• Conduct visitor screening and verify identification.
• Perform routine patrols of the school campus and surrounding areas.
• Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and disturbances.
• De-escalate conflicts and enforce school safety policies.
• Collaborate with school administration and emergency personnel when necessary.
• Prepare accurate and timely incident reports.
• Provide a professional and visible security presence.
• Assist with student arrival, dismissal, special events, and general school operations.
• Fill open shifts and provide coverage as operational needs arise.

Requirements

• Active Special Police Officer (SPO) License (mandatory).
• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience preferred.
• School security experience is a plus.
• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Strong understanding of security procedures and public safety practices.
• Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, visitors, and the public.
• Must pass a drug screening and physical examination.
• CPR/AED Certification preferred.
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain alert for extended periods.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must be available to work on-call assignments Wednesday through Sunday on Days, Evenings, and Nights.
