Schedule:

This is a flex position with one guaranteed shift:

• Sunday: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PMAdditional shifts may be assigned based on coverage needs and availability.

Position Summary:

The Unarmed Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and regulatory compliance of the dispensary premises, staff, clients, and products. This role includes monitoring entrances and exits, conducting patrols, deterring theft or unauthorized access, and responding to incidents in accordance with company policy and applicable state cannabis regulations.

Officers must maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and customer service in a retail healthcare environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide a visible, unarmed deterrent at entrances and high-risk areas
• Monitor and control access to ensure only authorized individuals enter
• Conduct interior and exterior patrols of the premises
• Observe and report suspicious activity or policy violations
• Prevent and respond to incidents such as theft, trespassing, or disorderly conduct
• Monitor security cameras, alarms, and access control systems
• Conduct ID verification and screening as required by site policy
• Escort staff during cash handling or product transfers
• Respond to emergencies and contact law enforcement or EMS when necessary
• Complete accurate incident reports, activity logs, and shift notes
• Enforce state cannabis regulations and company policies

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Valid BSIS Guard Card (Required)
• High school diploma or GED required
• Must pass background check
• Strong observation and communication skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods
• Must follow cannabis compliance and confidentiality standards

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
• Ability to operate radios and security equipment
• Strong visual and situational awareness

Preferred Skills:

• De-escalation and conflict resolution
• Knowledge of cannabis regulations
• Customer service experience
• Experience with surveillance and access control systems

Work Environment:

This position operates in a retail healthcare setting with high customer interaction. Officers must maintain professionalism, awareness, and strong customer service while protecting staff, clients, and high-value inventory.
