Security Training & Compliance Manager (New York City)

Position Summary

The Security Training & Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing and delivering New York State–mandated security guard training within New York City, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting quality assurance across security operations. This role exercises independent judgment in training administration, compliance oversight, and program execution. This position does not conduct investigations.

Essential Functions

Training & Compliance Leadership

• Oversee and deliver NYS DCJS-mandated security guard training, including pre-assignment, on-the-job, and annual in-service requirements
• Ensure compliance with New York Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) regulations
• Maintain training curricula, lesson plans, and instructional materials
• Track, audit, and manage training records and credential documentation
• Interpret regulatory updates and recommend training or compliance adjustments

Program Oversight & Quality Assurance

• Conduct quality control reviews of training delivery and operational standards
• Provide coaching and corrective instruction when performance gaps are identified
• Prepare written compliance and quality reports for management review
• Monitor corrective actions and ensure follow-through

Administrative & Advisory Responsibilities

• Exercise discretion in scheduling, training prioritization, and instructional methods
• Serve as a subject-matter resource on NY security training requirements
• Collaborate with operations leadership to support workforce readiness
• Support internal audits and regulatory inquiries related to training compliance

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience as a security guard instructor, trainer, or supervisor within the security industry
• Demonstrated knowledge of New York security guard training requirements
• Strong instructional, organizational, and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Required Credentials

• NYS DCJS Security Guard Instructor Certification (or eligibility to obtain)
• Valid New York State Security Guard Registration (armed or unarmed, as applicable)
• First Aid / CPR / AED Instructor Certification (Red Cross or AHA preferred)
