POSITION OBJECTVES: 

The Flex Officer program intends to showcase Securemedy’s finest Security Officers. The arrangement is intended to benefit the employees and company. It strives to promote Security Officer development and training in a manner that will give the Officer a broad and specialized knowledge of various posts, positions, and locations. The Flex Officer program will help:

 

  • Establish a career path for Officers to further grow within the company.
  • Staff new accounts until permanent Security Officers can be hired.
  • Provide security staffing for short-term special events.
  • Fill in for open posts or Officers on training, vacation/sick, no-call-no-show, call-offs, LOAs, etc.
  • Evaluate staff for promotional positions and further growth potential.


 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

The ideal candidate should meet the minimum basic requirements as follows: 

  •  Be trained at multiple locations and be assigned to a service area.
  • Complete and pass all applicable required training in a timely manner.
  • Have a clean driving record and a valid driver’s license.


  NOTE: Completion of the Securemedy Safe Driver training is a prerequisite and must be completed prior to starting Flex Officer duties.

  •  Provide a reliable phone number where the officer can be reached during established work availability times. If not reached, a message will be left, and flex officers will have to respond via telephone within 20 minutes of the call.
  • Maintain regular communication with the assigned worksite. Flex Officers must call the site management team at least once per day during their established availability window to check if hours for work are available.
  • Notify their supervisor if they are unable to respond to a scheduled shift. This notification must take place at least  6 hours prior to the start of the shift.
  • To remain active in the Flex Program, a Flex Officer must be able to perform all the essential functions described in the Security Officer Job Description, with or without reasonable accommodation(s), which includes:Frequent sitting, standing, and walking – each may be required for long periods of time, possibly up to the entire length of your shift. Walking may include climbing stairs, up inclines, and over uneven terrain.
  • Occasional reaching and stretching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Flex Officers who cannot perform their duties due to their inability to perform the essential functions (with or without reasonable accommodations) cannot participate in this program.
  • Have reliable transportation for the shifts and days agreed to work.
  • Be required to travel up to a 40-mile radius from the designated service area based on operational needs.
  • Be willing to work a minimum of 3 days, and 5 days per week; be willing to work at least 2 shifts (i.e., grave/swing, day/grave, etc.) per week.
  • Work a maximum of 16 hours in an unarmed capacity and a maximum of 12 hours in an armed capacity per day and 40 hours/ week.
  • Have at least 2 days off per week (weekday) to be determined by the scheduling and management team based on the weekly workload and business needs.
  • May be required to participate in special assignments outside of the 40-mile radius as needed.
  • Accept all work assignments offered within the established availability window. Failure to accept an assignment request/offer may result in a reduction of hours worked per week. Officers must contact the Manager (or follow other call-off procedures as may be in effect at the specific post location) at least four (6) hours before the start of the shift.
  • If the Officer refuses (3) three assignments within a week or (10) with a month’s period, the Officer will be reviewed for further consideration for the FLEX Officer Program.

 

CREDENTIALS REQUIRED: 

The ideal candidate is required to possess a combination of instructor-related credentials as outlined below: 

  • First Aid / CPR / AED (American Red Cross preferred or American Heart Association) 
  • OC Spray Certification
  • Expandable Baton Certification
  • Defensive Tactics Certification
  • Handcuffing Certification
  • Virginia DCJS Unarmed Security Officer Registration 
  • Virginia DCJS Basic Handgun Registration
  • Maryland Unarmed Security Guard Certification
  • Maryland Handgun Certification
  • District of Columbia Armed SPO Certifications
  • Minimum of one year managing/supervising contract security officers
