The Unarmed Security Officer (SO) plays a vital role in protecting our client’s premises, assets, and personnel. Officers maintain a high-visibility presence to deter illegal or inappropriate actions, while ensuring a safe and secure environment for employees and visitors. This position requires professionalism, vigilance, and the ability to respond effectively to routine and emergency situations
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor assigned site, conduct perimeter surveys, and provide public information assistance.
• Maintain a single post presence and deliver emergency notifications or assistance when required.
• Carry out oral and written instructions; instruct others on rules, duties, and functions.
• Interact with the public in a professional, courteous, and effective manner.
• Prevent unauthorized access by monitoring building activities and enforcing compliance with rules and regulations.
• Follow Post Orders, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and all site, company, and contract requirements.
• Verify visitor identification (driver’s license/photo ID), issue badges, and escort visitors when necessary.
• Control access to parking areas; enforce rules for permit, visitor, and restricted parking zones.
• Operate security equipment such as electronic access card scanners and search equipment (if applicable).
• Abstain from alcohol consumption eight (8) hours prior to duty and report fit for duty.
• Use cell phones only when they do not interfere with assigned responsibilities.
• Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment.
• Report unusual activity or security violations to the facility manager.
• Safely use government property when assigned and immediately report lost, damaged, or stolen items.
Qualifications:
• At least 2 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 21 years of age or older.
• Eligible for or able to obtain a Maryland Guard Card.
• Pass background check and drug screening.
• Physically fit: able to climb stairs, meet vision/hearing standards.
• Strong judgment and ability to act quickly in emergencies.
• Professional demeanor under stress, threats, or verbal abuse.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
