$30.00 / hour.
The Armed Campus Protection Officer (ACPO) is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure educational environment through active patrol, rapid response, and professional engagement with the campus community. The officer’s primary mission is to protect lives-students, faculty, staff, and visitors-by identifying and mitigating threats, responding decisively to critical incidents, and coordinating emergency efforts with campus administration and law enforcement. This role requires exceptional professionalism, integrity, and composure under pressure. The ACPO is expected to serve as both a visible deterrent and a trusted resource within the college community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct proactive patrols of buildings, parking areas, and open spaces to deter and detect security risks.
- Respond immediately to emergencies, including active threats, and disturbances.
- Engage and neutralize active threats consistent with DSI Security Services’ Use-of-Force Policy and Florida law.
- Coordinate with campus administration and law enforcement during emergency responses.
- Assist in lockdowns, evacuations, and shelter-in-place procedures as directed.
- Maintain detailed and timely incident report through designated reporting systems.
- Participate in regular drills, training exercises, and threat-assessment meetings.
- Uphold the DSI motto, “Do What You Say You Will Do (DWYSYWD),” through professionalism and reliability.
- Serve as an ambassador for campus safety and community relations.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum age: 21years.
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Prior law enforcement (municipal, county, state, federal) and/or military experience is required; must have separated in good standing.
- Completion of a Campus Protection Officer Program or equivalent law enforcement/security training.
- Possession of current Florida Class “G” and Class “D” licenses.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to drag or carry up to 100 pounds during emergency situations.
- Ability to run 100 yards without assistance.
- Must meet and maintain the physical fitness standards required for armed duty.
