We are looking for Full-time COOP Site Support Specialists at our location at Mt. Weather (Bluemont, Virginia).

-- The candidate must clearly detail all Continuity Of Operations and Emergency Management experience in their resume.

--Requires an active Top Secret Clearance (or equivalent level) with SCI Eligibility 

--Must have a minimum of two years Emergency Management and/or Continuity of Operations (COOP) Experience

--Must have a minimum of three years Emergency Management Experience

--FEMA courses are required 

 


Seeking full-time candidates to serve as COOP Site Support Specialist in a remote location in Bluemont, Virginia, at Mt. Weather. This high-profile position requires an active Top Secret Security Clearance (or equivalent level) with SCI Eligibility. The position supports Continuity of Operations for The Social Security Administration (SSA) in response to emergency events. The COOP Site Support Specialist will need to be able to handle crisis in a calm manner, have great decision-making abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ideal candidate must be able to assist the SSA personnel during emergency exercise and emergency situations.

Eligible candidates must demonstrate professionalism, exceptional interpersonal skills, to include the use of tact and diplomacy when dealing with people at all levels to get actions accomplished. Candidate must be able to create presentations and provide briefings utilizing the client’s established standards.

The ideal candidate will be flexible and be able to work in a multifaceted environment. There are frequent periods of time when the employee must be highly responsive and be able to multitask. The candidate must be efficient and be able to stay calm under pressure, always exhibiting professionalism.

Job Duties:

The work hours are from 09:30 - 18:00 and are on a full-time basis, normal operations are M-F with weekends and holidays off. Infrequently, employees will be required to maintain posts in the event of an emergency or in support of an exercise.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain planning, response, policy, and procedural documents.
  • Plan, conduct, and perform administrative functions for working groups and advisory groups.
  • Develop and maintain an Emergency Management Essential Records Plan.
  • Familiarize yourself with any & all new Federal directives, mandates, legislation, or guides relating to OSEP's programs and develop a comprehensive plan.
  • Provide assessment of current plan of integration to ensure continuous compliance.
  • Provide support to all hazard all threats emergency response.
  • Create and maintain operations records, logs, reports, and files.
  • Develop training and exercise material, provide support to programs.
  • Facilitate agency exercises with other Federal, State and Local entities.
  • Prepare and provide After Action Reports for training, exercise, and drills.
  • Maintain and inventory emergency preparedness kits, storage facilities, and supplies.
  • Develop and interactive Corrective Action Program (CAP).
  • Develop, conduct, and document a Business Impact Analysis (BIA)/Business Process Analysis (BPA) for all threats and hazards.
  • Create Emergency Response Team (ERT) status reports.
  • Attend offsite FEMA and inter agency meetings.
  • Provide support and perform testing of Sensitive Compartmented information Facility (SCIF).
  • Ensure all building’s equipment is functional, and testing that he buildings utilities, communication, power, and infrastructure are working properly, ensuring that facility is fully prepared for activation with little or no notice.
  • Allow authorized access for service of facility, as appropriate.
  • Testing non-secure communications assets, participating in monthly communications exercises, and updating/maintaining Essential Records.
  • Assist in stabilizing the situation and providing operational information to the appropriate members of the Senior Staff.
  • Maintain rosters and operate the Mass-Alert Emergency Notification System (MENS) with current contact information that is crucial for notification of key personnel.
  • File and maintain records, including creating, maintaining, and updating inventory and record change logs and preparing required reports.
  • Assist in performance testing of notification platforms, such as non-secure communication including MEN system and satellite phones.
  • Maintain emergency preparedness kits, storage facilities, and supplies.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have COOP and Emergency Management experience
  • Three years Emergency Management, or have experience in law enforcement or military 
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (assessment of writing skills required)
  • Must maintain self-control under stress
  • Must be able to write clear, concise, and detailed reports

Active TS Clearance with SCI Eligibility

Compensation:

  • Position pays up to $31.25 per hour
