Security Police Officer at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Headquarters in Washington D.C.
Seeking excellent Full-time candidates to serve at the Headquarters of the USDA in downtown Washington D.C. on Independence Avenue. This is a high-profile position that serves to protect and represent the USDA. The USDA receives many public visitors, dignitaries and top government officials of the United States and foreign countries. This position requires exceptional professionalism, appearance, and courteous behavior. We are seeking Security Police Officer’s who will effectively interact with all persons they come into contact with as well as be able to effectively respond to security and emergency situations in service to the Secretary of the USDA, USDA’s work force and all visitors to the USDA.

JOB DUTIES
Shifts may be fixed or may rotate depending on client's needs.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Stand posts
- Respond to emergency situations using training techniques, laws/regulations, and good judgment.
- Report suspicious activities
- Respond to threats to the client
- Safeguard the personnel, guests, visitors, and property of the client
- Conduct stationary and roving patrols
- Communicate with and provide assistance to the public
- Prepare reports and duty logs
- Report security incidents or hazardous conditions including detecting suspicious behavior among visitors and clients
- Screen employees, guest, and visitors at the client's facilities
- Issue and control visitor's passes
- Monitor Security alarms or fire systems
- Investigate/assist with accidents or robberies
- Participate and assist with emergency evacuations
- Stand for prolonged periods of time
- Patrol interior and perimeter of the buildings that are several blocks in all weather conditions
- Apprehend perpetrators
- Defuse stressful situations and prevent them from escalating
Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Three years of security, law enforcement or military experience within past seven years
- Successful completion of a state certified Law Enforcement Education and Training or Police Officers Standard Training course
- Must be able to pass CPR, First Aid and MEB certifications
- PSOs shall fluently speak, read, comprehend, and compose coherent written reports in English
- Must complete and pass medical exam
- Must complete and pass the physical testing
- Maintain professional, well-groomed appearance at all times
- Qualify with a 9mm weapon; Glock 17
- Must pass a drug/alcohol screening
- No Felonies/Domestic Abuse/Violence charges
- No DUI convictions
- Must be able to provide a 1) Resume, 2) Social Security Card, 3) Birth Certificate, and 4) Copy of DD214 (If prior military)
- Must successfully pass the requalification program annually (including random drug and alcohol screening)
- Must be of sound mind and have good judgment and must be able to demonstrate good judgment in the execution of duties job performance.
- Must be able to read, understand and apply printed rules, detailed orders, instructions and training materials printed in the English language.
- Must maintain poise and self-control under stress
- Must be able to write clear, concise and detailed reports in the English Language
