The Fire Inspector’s primary responsibility is to test and inspect all systems. The Fire Inspector is responsible for providing proper documentation to ensure all deficiencies are corrected. 

This position is non-exempt and will work a standard 8 hour work day Monday - Friday with a start time as early as 5:00am depending on workload, business needs, and season. 

OBJECTIVES

  • Test and inspect fire alarm systems, including smoke/heat detectors, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and manual pull stations.
  • Understand the operation of fire panels used by Valley Security & Alarm.
  • Make appointments for tests and ensure commitments are kept.
  • Understand the basics of NFPA 72 and NEC.
  • Update the fire inspection database with inspection information.
  • Work safely within Geil Enterprises and client guidelines.
  • Report unsafe conditions pertaining to Company work and/or systems at client sites.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Basic understanding of fire alarm systems.
  • Consistent positive attitude.
  • Ability to document details.
  • Team player.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Must hold a valid California Driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to obtain Life Safety Certification.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • ACE license.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • ACE license.

  • Frequently move or transport items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Constantly have near and far visual acuity, and the ability to discern colors, and judge distances/spatial relationships.
  • Occasionally employ the senses of touch and smell.
  • Frequently operate a motor vehicle in a safe and sensible manner.
  • The position cited above may work in an indoor and/or outdoor environment; exposure to controlled temperatures or  inclement weather such as extreme heat/cold, rain, snow, wind, etc. may occur.
  • The noise level for the position(s) cited above may range from quiet to loud.

We suggest the following terms for describing the amount of time a task takes: “Seldomly” is only a few times a day for a short duration, or not daily; “Occasionally” is up to one-third of the day; “Frequently” is up to two-thirds of the day; and “Constantly” is over two-thirds of the day.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay Scale: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour

An employee's actual rate of pay for this position is reliant upon various factors such as the geographic location of the worksite, the type of industry/clientele being serviced and the employee's longevity with the company.
