We’re hiring a reliable, experienced, Security Officer! The persons in this position will maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and co-workers by patrolling, monitoring premises, and performing search procedures.

Shifts Include:  Saturday and Sunday 10:30pm- 7am  (16 hours) 


Hourly starting wage: $23.00 HR

Responsibilities:

Supervisor Duties

  • Assists Client’s Director of Security Services or designee with day-to-day activities of assigned Security Posts assignments whichinclude: maintaining the overall security of Client’s Property, ensuring all shifts are covered and personnel are performing shift duties, overseeing the opening and closing of the Institute at designated times, notifying the appropriate persons or dispatcher onduty of unusual occurrences and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment.
  •  Responds to and investigates as dispatched, any incident or emergency and responds to and investigates any incident or
    emergency as observed.
  •  In the absence of Client’s Security Director, assumes role as the security representative at the scene of any incident or emergency,until properly relieved.
  •  Responsible for overseeing the training of newly assigned Security Personnel Security Guards and ensures necessary daily
    information is shared with all guards.
  • Ensures overall security of campus and continually communicates with others in the department to further that responsibility.
  • Receives and provides comprehensive pass down of daily events and occurrences from incoming/outgoing shift supervisor.
  •  Ensures necessary daily/shift information is shared with all subordinate personnel.
  • Ensures assigned shift is appropriately staffed and assigned shift personnel are properly executing their duties.
  • Monitors all radio traffic and coordinates the necessary security response to reported incidents.
  •  Directs dispatchers to assist and support patrol related functions when necessary.
  •  Responds to all incidents and emergencies regardless of location, in a timely manner and acts as lead security representative.
  •  Documents incidents that occur on campus by use of incident reporting software.
  •  Notifies the appropriate Institute contact person when necessary by phone and/or e-mail.
  •  Responsible for the general training of contract security officers assigned to that shift.
  •  Relieves and/or coordinates break and meal periods for assigned posts, to include Dispatcher.
  •  Maintains proficiency in all security and dispatch related technological systems.
  • Responds to emergencies and incidents as observed and/or as directed by Dispatch.
  • When not responding to a direct call, patrols the assigned area of the facility grounds on foot, visually and audibly assessing and reporting on the state of security for the overall facility and continuously reports (via radio) on engaged activity to a dispatcher to
    be logged.
  • Receives calls from Dispatcher regarding alarms, investigates and rectifies security breaches and responds promptly.
  •  Sets up, moves and removes traffic signage and traffic cones as directed.
  •  Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they remain secure.
  •  Warns violators of rule infractions, such as trespassing after hours, and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
  • Assists authorized persons without their key cards in entering locked areas after verifying their identity through proper protocols.
  •  Responds to calls from Dispatcher regarding access denials, locates offenders and determines if ID card used is valid.
  •  Watches for and reports incidents and unusual events, irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, equipment failures,lighting issues and security doors left unlocked via the use of a two-way radio and documents them on a daily written log or through electronic log keeping.
  •  As directed, assumes other Security Post location duties to provide breaks/meals to colleagues.
  •  Monitors access to registered events that take place after hours or when the facility is closed.
  •  Collects and turns in found items to dispatch.
  •  As assigned, provides security presence at Client special events.
  •  Provides comprehensive pass down of daily events and occurrences to relief personnel.
  •  Performs hourly rounds of the facility as assigned (on foot), utilizing a detex pipe to record time of inspection trips.
  •  Performs daily lock/unlock of facility perimeter doors on foot.
  •  Monitors vehicular traffic flow visually, on foot and/or with the use of a motorized golf cart.
  •  Monitors handicapped parking spots for compliance.
  •  Monitors reserved parking spaces by checking reserved sheet against incoming visitors and contacts Client shift supervisor if
    discrepancies occur.
  • Greets visitors and staff (on foot) and provides directions and verbal information. As assigned, may provide a motorized escort as they arrive and depart.
  • Performs other minor operational Security duties as assigned by the Client shift supervisor or Director of Security (designee),
    (i.e., flag raising/lowering, overflow lighting, bicycle tagging, escorting, etc.):
  •  Reports to Dispatcher and immediate supervisor the occurrence of the following or similar events:
  •  Any event that has never taken place on site previously or that occurs infrequently.
  •  Any event that involves the presence of outside law enforcement or an outside emergency services agency (i.e., false firealarms reported with discretion).
  • Any event that involves serious injury or death.
  •  Any event that results in significant damage, to include damaged cars, buildings, other real or personal property, or similar events.
  • Any event that requires notification or discussion of the circumstances with any senior Client administrative official to
    include Directors, Vice Presidents or the President.
    o Any event that significantly interrupts the daily business of the Institute or security operations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have a VALID drivers license
  • Must have a VALID guard card
  • Must be willing to have CPR/AED cert or willing to get one
  • Must have one (2) year of experience as a security officer 
  • Has great customer service 
  • Must have 2 years of Supervisor Experience in Security or anything related to Security
  • Must be willing to communicate and write clearly and effectively

  • Ability to effectively present information in English in a one-on-one and/or small group situations to other security staff and/or Client employees.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of security related information.
  • Ability to stand for a full 8-hour shift and subsequent overtime if needed based on the activities that arise during any given shift or holdover period, where required.
  • Ability to run or otherwise respond to an emergency in a timely manner.
  • Understanding of basic computer keyboard knowledge.
  • Knowledge of common word processing software; spreadsheet software and e-mail.
  • Ability to effectively use a two-way radio, cell phone and direct connect.
  • Ability to learn, properly use, and respond to internal hardware and software that is specific to security to include but not limited to: surveillance cameras, card access systems, incident reporting systems, detex systems, call recording systems, fire alarm systems.
  • Within thirty (30) days of official placement at Client’s Property, all Security Personnel, regardless of the assigned Security Post, shall have completed Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (“CPR”), Automated External Defibrillator (“AED”) and First Aid certification.
