Overview

 

The Shift supervisor is responsible for the assisting in the supervision and direction of all officers assigned to the Shift, assessing the performance of site officers, and maintenance of TrackTik.  The Shift supervisor will also be responsible for maintaining the daily operation of the Shift schedule. This position reports to the Security Manager.   

 

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Ensures that all services provided by staff assigned within the portfolio are delivered per the client’s wishes and best interests and in accordance with Paladin’s Code of Ethics. 
  • Managing emergencies effectively and responsibly, and provide required reports to Security Manager in a timely manner. 
  • Respond professionally to site emergencies (alarms, medical emergencies, fires and other urgent matters) in accordance with site orders; 
  • Coach and mentor all officers assigned to shift/ site, liaise with Security Manager to relay any performance or coaching instances; 
  • Maintain detailed, working knowledge of the SOPs and their implementation; 
  • Maintain the pass on binder and ensure that employees on shift, view and initial all items  
  • Ensure all the month end testing is completed and recorded; 
  • Monitor site visitors, camera, and alarm systems to ensure safety and access in accordance with site policies and procedures; 
  • Prepare and maintain professional and effective reports regarding the activities, security violations and hazardous occurrences on site; 
  • Ensure that their team members, upon arrival at the site, have their security guard license and their dress and deportment are appropriate; 
  • Review daily Logs, TrackTIk Tour Reports and escalate to Security Manager any issues.  
  • Ensure that all patrols are completed and logged in an efficient and timely fashion; 
  • Ensure all the month end signup sheets, calendrers are put away and new ones posted Fire extinguisher testing is completed and recorded in timely manner. 
  • Review and saving CCTV footage as needed for police investigation or requested by Artis REIT. 
  • Ensure staff are adhering to relevant Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) legislation and site-specific safety guidelines, and that staff have reviewed and understand Paladin’s OH&S policies and procedures. 
  • Ensures proper on boarding and training are provided to newly hired staff and that newly trained staff are able to demonstrate an acceptable level of site knowledge. 
  • Maintain and update building EBI Card Access changes as per tenant change requests when needed. 
  • Ensure Security Desk and Security Office are maintained in a professional manner, clear of clutter.  All required spread sheets are in stock and never run out. 
  • Other duties as required from time to time. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Completion of Supervisory training levels 1,2 and 3 and site assigned LMS courses 
  • Current First Aid/ CPR certificate 
  • Current/valid CPI (NVCI) certificate 
  • Working knowledge of appropriate legislation and provincial/national standards on fire safety, building codes, security, and protection of privacy. 
  • Proven leadership skills complimented by a strong understanding of Paladin’s core values and culture. 
  • Be able to manage own time and perform duties consistently under minimum supervision. 
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office Suite) and organizational skills. 
  • Able to perform consistently in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities. 
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a collaborative team environment. 
  • Maintain competency of site CCTV system.

High School Diploma/GED
Certification Requirements (All)
First Aid and CPR - Level C Certification
Valid Manitoba Security Guard License
Minimum of 1 year security experience
