Job Brief

We are seeking professional, dependable, and safety-focused Special Police Officers (SPOs) to support daily security operations within a private school setting in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a school and demonstrate sound judgment, strong communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

As an SPO, you will play a critical role in ensuring campus safety, enforcing policies, and responding effectively to incidents while maintaining a visible and approachable presence throughout the school.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure school environment for students, staff, and visitors
• Monitor entrances/exits and enforce access control procedures
• Conduct visitor screening and verify identification
• Perform regular patrols of the school building and surrounding areas
• Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, or disturbances
• De-escalate conflicts and enforce school safety policies
• Collaborate with school administration and emergency personnel when needed
• Prepare accurate and timely incident reports
• Provide a professional, visible presence to deter unsafe behavior
• Assist with arrival, dismissal, and general school operations as needed

Requirements:

• Active Special Police Officer (SPO) License (required)
• Prior security or law enforcement experience (school setting preferred)
• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Strong understanding of security procedures and public safety practices
• Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills
• Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and the public
• Must pass a drug screening, and physical examination
• CPR/AED certification (preferred)
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain alert for extended periods
