Unarmed Security Officer
Location: Freedom, PA
Schedule: Monday-Wednesday 4:30am-12:30pm
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Position Overview
The Unarmed Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment at a high-activity facility. This position requires strong situational awareness, adherence to safety protocols, and consistent monitoring of people, processes, and property. Officers will work closely with plant management, safety teams, and visitors to ensure smooth operations and rapid response to incidents.
Access Control & Visitor Management
- Manage entry and exit points for employees, contractors, delivery drivers, and visitors
- Verify ID badges and credentials; issue temporary visitor badges when required
- Monitor gatehouses and access points
- Ensure compliance with facility security and safety rules before allowing entry
Patrol & Surveillance
- Conduct scheduled and random patrols of interior and exterior areas, including production floors, warehouses, loading docks, offices, and parking lots
- Monitor security cameras and alarm systems, responding promptly to alerts
- Inspect doors, windows, gates, and equipment for signs of tampering or security vulnerabilities
- Ensure restricted areas and hazard zones are secured
Safety & Emergency Response
- Respond to emergencies such as fire alarms, medical situations, evacuations, or hazardous material incidents
- Provide clear direction to employees and visitors during emergency protocols
- Assist with first-aid or CPR (if certified)
- Immediately notify appropriate personnel (plant manager, EH&S, emergency services) of serious incidents
Incident Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate daily activity logs detailing patrols, visitor interactions, and security checks
- Prepare detailed incident reports for safety hazards, suspicious activity, rule violations, or accidents
- Document investigations or follow-up actions according to company protocol
- Use company computers, tablets, or reporting software to enter information in real time
Customer Service & Professional Conduct
- Provide courteous assistance to employees and visitors
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor in uniform
- Act as a resource for general facility questions and safety information
- De-escalate conflicts using communication and problem-solving techniques
Policy Enforcement
- Enforce company policies including PPE rules, parking guidelines, restricted-area access, and safety protocols
- Monitor for contraband or prohibited items as defined by facility rules
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, workplace safety, and security standards
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to pass background check
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods
- Basic computer proficiency (email, incident reporting, video monitoring systems)
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in security, military, law enforcement, or loss prevention
- Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, or industrial environments
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification
